VP of Accounting
We’re partnering with a growing and forward-thinking company in the insurance and financial services space that’s on the lookout for a sharp, motivated VP of Accounting. If you’re passionate about all things accounting and love leading with strategy, this is your chance to take the reins.

From implementing new accounting standards to driving SOX compliance and collaborating on major initiatives, your work will truly make a difference.
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Compensation: $220k plus bonus plus LTI
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and review of financial statements and management reports in compliance with US GAAP and statutory requirements.
- Oversee and manage accounting policies, ensuring alignment with FASB, SEC, and NAIC standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for accounting guidance and provide technical support to leadership and subsidiary teams.
- Lead the organization’s SOX 404 internal control program, including risk assessment, scoping, deficiency analysis, and remediation planning.
- Partner with corporate and subsidiary stakeholders on special projects, including:
- Implementation of new accounting standards
- System conversions or upgrades
- Process and internal control enhancements
- Analysis and reporting of significant transactions
- Mentor and develop less experienced staff, providing training and guidance to support team growth and capability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong technical accounting background, with expertise in US GAAP, statutory accounting, and SEC/NAIC reporting requirements.
- Hands-on experience managing SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and collaborate across departments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex information to senior leadership.
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry strongly preferred.
