Senior Manager – Private Equity Vertical
Compensation: ~$150K base + performance bonus
Work Arrangement: Hybrid preferred (3+ days in-office); open to remote for the right candidate
Why Now: Immediate need to support rapid growth and build a dedicated Private Equity vertical
Start Date: ASAP

About the Opportunity

A growing middle-market accounting platform is launching a dedicated Private Equity operating company vertical and is seeking a Senior Manager to play a foundational role in its build-out. This is a high-impact opportunity to step beyond traditional audit responsibilities and help shape a specialized practice focused on PE-backed portfolio companies across software, services, and healthcare sectors.

You’ll work directly with firm leadership, gain exposure to dynamic, high-growth businesses, and help define how audit and advisory services are delivered in a fast-evolving segment of the market—all while maintaining a hands-on, client-facing role.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage 10–12+ audit engagements annually for PE-backed operating companies
• Oversee audits across industries including software/SaaS, services, and healthcare/dental
• Navigate tight deadlines and shifting timelines across multiple concurrent engagements
• Act as a hands-on advisor to clients with limited audit readiness or GAAP knowledge
• Jump between engagements as client responsiveness and data availability fluctuate
• Collaborate with leadership on building and scaling the Private Equity vertical
• Support business development initiatives tied to PE relationships
• Mentor and develop junior staff while helping structure team processes

What Makes This Role Exciting

• Opportunity to help build and shape a new, high-growth Private Equity vertical from the ground up
• Direct exposure to PE-backed portfolio companies in dynamic, fast-scaling industries
• High visibility with firm leadership and influence on strategic direction
• Blend of audit leadership and advisory-style client engagement
• Fast-paced environment offering variety, autonomy, and impact
• Opportunity to become a recognized specialist in a niche and growing market segment
• Potential to help scale and build a team around you

About You

• 6–10+ years of public accounting audit experience (Manager or Senior Manager level)
• Strong technical expertise in GAAP and audit procedures
• Experience managing multiple engagements with competing deadlines
• Proven ability to work with disorganized or less sophisticated client environments
• Strong project management, communication, and client-facing skills
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on, less structured environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required

Additional Advantages

• Experience auditing private equity-backed operating companies
• Background in software, SaaS, healthcare services, or recurring revenue models
• Experience at middle-market accounting firms
• Exposure to acquisition or roll-up environments
• Prior involvement in building or contributing to a niche/vertical practice

Why Join Us

• Play a key role in building a strategic, high-priority practice area
• Join a firm with strong leadership support and clear investment in growth
• Work on high-impact engagements with real visibility and influence
• Be part of a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment
• Access meaningful career advancement as the vertical scales

This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’re not just executing audits—you’re helping build something new. If you’re looking for a hands-on, high-impact position with visibility, growth potential, and the chance to specialize in a rapidly expanding niche, this role offers a compelling next step.
