Audit Manager

Our growing Financial Services Practice is seeking a talented Audit Supervisor or Manager to lead and execute a variety of public sector audit engagements. This is a key role where you’ll work directly with public sector clients—such as municipalities, school districts, and other government entities—while overseeing audit staff and ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
Location: REMOTE
Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Public Sector Engagements: Oversee multiple public sector client engagements, manage budgets, and ensure timely and accurate completion of audit procedures from planning to wrap-up.
- Client Communication & Satisfaction: Actively communicate with clients to manage expectations, deliver results, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvements: Identify internal control deficiencies and offer recommendations for improvement, while training staff on internal control processes and assisting in the development of management letters.
- Audit Planning & Execution: Develop audit programs, identify risks, and manage engagement staff to execute audit engagements effectively and efficiently.
- Research & Technical Expertise: Conduct thorough research on complex accounting topics, utilizing the Firm’s tools to provide insightful conclusions. Stay updated on GAAP, GAAS, and GAGAS standards to ensure compliance and quality.
- Staff Mentorship & Development: Mentor and develop staff, provide performance assessments, and support career growth through training, feedback, and guidance.
- Reporting & Deliverables: Prepare high-quality financial reports, including statements, notes, and supplemental information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Professional Development: Participate in continuous learning through formal CPE courses, training programs, and networking events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (MS in Accounting is a plus).
- Manager candidates: 8-10 years of progressive audit experience in public accounting with an active CPA license required.
- Supervisor candidates: 5+ years of audit experience with progress toward CPA certification, including the required 150-credit coursework.
- Public Sector Experience preferred (e.g., municipalities, school districts).
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of GAAP for government entities, GAAS, GAGAS, and the Uniform Grant Guidance for federal compliance audits.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PFX Engagement audit software.
- Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and manage client relationships effectively.
- Ability to research and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues.
- Willingness to travel locally to client sites as required.
